Holy Fuck... that is all I can say.

Sorry they are so dark (Camera phone) and I couldn't tell ya which band is which. But you can use your imagination.

I got there late, and missed DeadElectric, Black Maria, and Lousy Robot. But, I finally got to see October People and Romeo Goes to Hell for the first time, and of course, U7D. Great night, great show by all accounts! And yeah, the new CD rocks.

The sound guy didn't show, so they called in another who showed right when the show was supposed to start. Dead Electric played right through the sound check; no real songs or anything, just fucking around. I couldn't wait. We only played three songs once the mics were up, but I thought it was good. Best first show I've ever had, really good crowd for that early.

Everyone had to shorten their set a bit due to the delay, but I think they made up for it by rocking out harder. Lousy Robot played all my favorite songs. Black Maria was awesome and huge, as always. Oktober People were fucking epic, one of the best times I'd ever seen them. Again, the sound was really good through the whole show, and so was the lighting and crowd.

For Romeo- You know at the pad you can't always tell what the crowd hears, and always want more monitors- this time: vocals and keys sounded the best ever. We put everything we had into it. Despite the fact that we haven't practiced in forever I thought we did really well. We played a bit slow since we were rusty, but put more oomph in to make up for it. Since it was a short set we kicked the shit out of it.

Unit 7 sounded great, looked great, coll projection, very impressive equipment smashing at the end. They should be really proud of the turnout, the people who stuck around all night, the cd, the press... everything. Great goddam show, and there was even quite a bit of good competition that night, so they should be even more happy.

My bands didn't sell any merch really (I raised the prices for one night only so as not to swipe business from Unit 7, and there was also good new shit from Lousy Robot), but I sold a bunch of iheartmachine shirts of my own design, including every single girl and youth shirts I had in stock. After having made 130 shirts, 1200 buttons and a website the previous week, I still have my third biggest week ever this coming week!

And I made out with 5 or 6 girls. I say 5 or 6, because a dude might have snuck in there. I have no way of knowing. I drank a lot. The next day I was as tired as hell, but not hung over.

I FUCKING LOVE THIS TOWN RIGHT NOW.

That was a great show. I haven't had that much fun in a long time. Saw Romeo Goes to HEll for the first time...good stuff, you guys sounded great!! Black Maria rocked as usual. Missed Oktober People, who I have not caught yet, cause I had some drinkin' to do (although when I used to rehearse w/Spiritu, we would listen to them between songs. They played a couple storage units over and they kick ass)...Enjoyed U7D, also have not seen them before. I also got to match faces to screen names, formally met Gio, Levi (very briefly, no I did not make out w/you), Captain America and Cici California. Saw Joel from SG and hung out with G for a bit. Didn't catch Dead Electric, or Lousy Robot because we were playing a next door at the GW. By the way, Tristan, Mike and John from LB, you guys kick so much ass!! If it wasn't for you, we would have been playing for the staff and the other bands that were loading in. Thanks bros! That was one hell of a crowd at the launch Pad! Good Times!

Hell of a show guys! I got there about 10:00, already a bit buzzed, got another beer and the music started. The Dead Electric ripped us off, only played 3 songs. I thought there set list was going to be 3 ½ songs. I’ve never seen Lousy Robot before, good stuff, and thanks for reminding the crowd about the free U7D Cd, I went and got it right away. What can I say about Black Maria, they never disappoint. Oktober People were on top of there game, I haven’t seen them play in a long time. Lots of Rock from RGTH.

U7D – Thanks for the CD! I can’t believe that you guys are not on a Major label touring the world. Thank you for all of the great music and best of luck, you guys kick some serious ass!!!

Hey, it's not my fault!

An excellent show, it was! I missed Black Maria because I had to ferry my wife home, but I did get to see RGtH and the Drainers. Never having seen RGtH and only having seen a few songs from U7D when they opened for j mascis a few years ago, I was in for a pleasant surprise.

The 2 bands have a lot in common stylistically - both have a good deal of '80s Synthpop and New Wave influence - so they complemented each other well. Still, the romeos had a bit more "roll" the their rock, and were grittier and more abrasive, with lotsa fat hooks in their material. Good energy level and musicianship kept the set moving along at a good pace, and despite their (admitted) lack of practice, they nailed their set.

Unit 7 Drain calls to mind a lot of bands, but they can't seem to sit still in any one box for long. I heard the Cure, The Cars, Gary Numan, A Teardrop Explodes, The Fixx, Modern English, and Bowie's Berlin period amongst the various and sundry influences. Their material covers a lot of emotinal range - there are happier, poppy numbers as well as darker, bleaker stuff. Even the gloomiest material had catchy hooks and a thin veneer of poppiness, and I mean that in a good way. There are way too many bands plowing that same emotional field with little or no regard to songwriting. The roaring '20s video worked really well, especially the building demolition clips during the brief drum solo, and the "smashing up the gear up" bit was a suitable finale the the set.

After that, I also met Levi, but I was so twizzled I mistook him for Harry of U7D and complimented him on his Strat-smashing skills.

Cheers to all the bands involved and to those who helped make this an Albuquerque Music Community mutual supportfest.

Black Maria! My personal pick. The whole show was good. I have to admit, that my preference in music leans more toward the Sabbath/Motorhead end of the spectrum than it does toward the Cure/Bowie end...thus I'll write about BM. I have to appreciate a mix of music though. Black Maria quenched my thirst on Friday night. Dropped tuned guitars, Rapunzel hair and Moses beards, the tallest bassist ever, thrashing SG's, tall stacked cabs, tatoos, spinning, guitars falling on the floor, screaming vocals, dancing elves, naked chicks with snakes, explosions, nymphs, and fire!!! After the set was done the band turned into wolves and hauled ass out the back door, leaving me in an utter state of shock. If you missed this show, or if you didn't try the amanitas, you missed out. Mad Respect to Black Maria and all the other bands.

It was no Five Minute Sin show, but Black Maria sure rocked. It was my first time seeing Unit 7 Drain and they were pretty good.

and I finally got to meet the almighty Neb from Devil Riding Shotgun and RacerX!

It was good to meet you & the Cap'n, but hopefully, the pic you snapped of us didn't come out. Our eyes were red slits by that point... Wink

Holy Crap, you guys really showed us some kick ass support for our release. When we were putting together the list of bands to play, we knew it was going to be one awesome show, but all of our expectations were surpassed by everyone (the crowd and the bands)!
Anyone who talks this scene down should really stick around and count the number of people who will come to a local release and stay till 2:00 in the morning.
We just want to thank everyone for all of the support.
Also, Harry asked me to set up a forum here for people to review the CD. Since we gave away over 200 copies, we figure that a lot of you got them. We want your unbiased opinions... in other words, let 'er rip. We figure they will really help us figure out what we are doing right, and wrong. I'll put it in our band's forum, and I really hope you take the time to let us know what you think.
Also, if you missed the show, and still want a "free" copy, we're playing this Friday with Fast Heart Mart, Feels Like Sunday, and the Mindy Set at 7:00 at Winnings Coffee on Harvard, just south of Central. All-ages, free CD with $5 cover.
THANK YOU!!!
