Fuck yeah!
What a great show.

Al Cisneros and Chris Hakius brought it big time with their Hypnotic/Metal/SongCycle/Lysergic/Dirge/Stoner/Jazz style. Cisneros backed by two Green Amp 8x12's and four or five 4x10's on top of that, pushing them with no less than three Mat Amps and accompanied by Hakuis who delivered both punishing and amazingly lithe beats on a simple, stripped down drum set, began the set with a simple textured tone/riff, and the set unfolded.

An Om show is much like a musical journey where the band takes you on an aural and rhythmic excursion. Their set is akin to one expanded song, with dynamic rhythm, volume, tempo and textural changes throughout. Regardless of one's state of mind or inebriation level, you will fell comported by the music. Yeah, it's that fucking good. Case in point: armed with my lovely, Rocking companion (don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like mine?), some Black Marias, a couple of Om loving Norteneos and a fine tuned buzz, the young music lovers around me were Rocking and grooving just as hard as we were---oblivious to any "real world" matters, allowing themselves to be swept into the music. One young music enthusiest leaned over to confirm that he was indeed experiencing OM. After confirming that, I saked what he thought of them. "Stoney!" was hes enthusiastic response. Cute kid...

One of the interesting aspects (to me) of the evenig, was the conspicuous absence of many local DrugRock denizens. No WeedMonkey ,SuperJoelSuperSoul or MileHighKyle. No DRSers. No Bellmontonians. Nada. However Ella and Harry U7D (aka America's Sweethearts and everybodies favorite crush) were there and in great form, enjoying the fuck out of OM with us.

As some of y'allmay know, OM is a splinter of Sleep, who's guitarist, Matt Pike went on to form High On Fire. High On Fire will be here Sunday. Will you be there?

What RacerX said, minus the not knowing they were coming part. Which makes it worse on my end.

There is NO WAY I will miss High on Fire.

Well I can take the reasponsibility to put the word out for shows I think all y'all should go to in order to complete a well rounded diet of music. Perhaps y'all at the Alibi can put me on the payroll for that?

That pool hall was called Sonny's. We opened for High On Fire and although we were too late to make Graves At Sea at the Atomic, I did wear a Graves At Sea t-shirt last night.

Kinda cozmik, huh?

Not for me, it won't be. I like them both (Mono more), but the new HoF is head & shoulders above both their previous offerings.

WAR METALLLL!!!

the new high on fire is pretty good. i like it. but they get a bit repetitive. and the first two songs on that disc are a little boring.

but i can listen to coliseum over and over again with no problems. but i love the more thrashy hardcore stuff.
