Another incredible night for any and all who love rock!!! First off I must admit that I totally missed Greenthroat, and I'm sorry for that. Word at the bar was good on them. I got to the Launchpad in time to see and hear most of Sincerely's set. Wow! Young, energetic and intent on rocking out. These guys really put their all into their performance! Hard rock on the somewhat metal end of the spectrum. Duo guitars, Mesa Boogie Amps, a killer drummer and a singer with one of those nu-metalish "Cookie Monster" growling, roaring styles. Although that's not my favorite type of vocal styling, these boys were not to be ignored. Tight and full of energy, keep your eyes and ears out for Sincerely! These young guns rock!!
With my new title as Black Maria's biggest fan (or whatever the Metal Maniac called me, seems he erased the post...again) it should come to no surprise that my words won't be able to express the power and might put forth from Black Maria that night. If you were there, you know what I mean. Even thought they crushed just eleven short days ago (see Nebula, 500, Black Maria review) and even I couldn't think they could dominate the Launchpad stage any harder----well guess what? If you missed this, you missed the best Black Maria show yet!! Although every show of their's that I have been to is better than the one before. So you know you don't want to miss the next one!! If a band could possibly be tighter, rock harder, express more emotion and project more excitment than these guys did, well it's probably you, watching the next Black Maria show! Take everything I have ever said about this band and multiply it by at least thirteen!! That was how fucking good it was! And I know just about everyone else there, including all of Bongzilla and their tour manager (hi Angelica), thought so too! Way to rock, Black Maria!! Way to fire up a crowd!!
And finally, from Madison WI, Bongzilla!! Fucking incredable, tight, stoney grooves and ripping riffs and leads!! I didn't catch what happened to their bass player, but Dixie from Weedeater did an outstanding job of filling in! He was a natural and attacked his bass with fury and precision, not unlike the rest of the band! These guys just finished up two or so weeks of opening for Monster Magnet. I dig M.M., but I'd wager that Bongzilla stole most of those shows!! A rocking set and no doubt the guys in Bongzilla were having fun as well! Albuquerque loves it's rock and shows much love for the touring bands.
In all, another great night of rock in our humble little town! And once again I feel that ALL our local rockers left a very positive impression on yet another touring band. Now get the fuck away from your computer and go out and support some live, local music!!
