Results from the 1st Round of the New Music Rumble Competition Concert Series...

The bands were rated on criteria such as, -Character, -Artistry, -Creativity, -Originality, and -Skill.
Abandon All Hope: 76/110 points
Ferrum: 79/110 points

Both bands gave 100% at the show and kicked my a$$ - so glad I wasn't judging!!!

As part of the competition the bands are asked to close the night with either a lead guitar duel or a jam session -- this was the best part of the show!!!! Two bands who never met before shared the stage for one hour of improv and covers from Black Sabbath and Ozzy.

The next round (at Herb's Lounge, just north of Taos) is May 21st. That round features FOMA (progressive rock) and Handsome Molly (country punk-a-billy). Handsome Molly gave a "Sneak Peek" performance Friday night with Abandon All Hope & Ferrum, and found new fans with the crew of both bands.

We return to Metal on June 9th, July 11th and August 13th (all at Herb's Lounge)with Tribus, from Gallup - Tribal Death Metal. We need a challenger on June 9th and August 13th - Taos band, The Undertakers, has challenged Tribus for the July 11th show, and will be the "Sneak Peek" opening act on June 9th.

NM is home to some seriously talented bands - the primary goal of the New Music Rumble competition series is to get these bands into the studio to make some radio-quality recordings so they can submit their work to the radio stations.
