This show turned out to be pretty sweet. We started the pre-show BBQ at around 7:30 and people started to trickle in right away. The owner, Eli, had his truck break down in Santa Fe before the show, so it was a good thing he gave me a key to the place. There were a few great volunteers on hand to mind the front door and run lights (thanks to Cliff and Mark).
Diamond Dan was on the grill and a bunch of peeps were chillen on the back patio drinkin and talkin shit. We went on stage at around 9pm and played for a little over an hour.
I was really happy with the sound. The place does not have a PA, but we brought our new crown / peavy setup and mics, etc. Frans and I on the plug-in acoustics and Bart on his normal kit, but with brushes instead of sticks. We played a bunch of originals and some covers as well.
The crowd was wicked supportive, and we were able to drink a toast after every song. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was saucy after the set. After we played a bunch of us chilled at the theater and finished off pretty much every beer we could find.
All in all this was a really big success. At final count we were able to bring in just over 40 people. Not a huge turnout, but then again the theater only holds 70, so we weren't too far off.
A huge thanks to all those who came, especially those heshers from Left Brain. This is going to be a great new art space, and I think those who were there will agree that it is a very chill place to throw a show.
