Just a quick update on Rezfest this past Sunday afternoon!
Just some few of the "Rock" highlights, even though they showcased other styles of music! "Saving Damsels" started out rocking the ABQ Amphitheater with their acoustic rock sounds, great vocals and amazing acoustic guitar work... "237" came on and rocked the joint, it was nice to have a killer rock band like them early in the show and wake everybody up! Gregg's vocals are in prime form and obviously "Scutt" on the drums kicked ass! Best part was Gregg doing a Traditional Isleta drum song with him on vocals and drum of course! "The Platero's" kicked some ass rocking everybody out with their Blues N' Roll sounds, they did a couple covers with most notably "Los Lonely Boys"-"Heaven". Their orignals rocked also. As for my band "Ishen Tree", we hadn't played together for almost 9 months and we had a crash course practice session to do this show. But we wanted to try something new than the usual tunes......So we brought out the seldomly played "Ishen Tree" and I learned just the night before a new tuned called "98th Street", both were in the reggae rock style, could of been better but oh well.....The next three tunes we didn't have a glitch..We did a pop tune (My Girl), punk tune (Wasted) and a little metal tune (Denied). Overall I think we did alright! "Robert Mirabal" like always shows why he's earned his "Grammy"....Let's just say his style and music is "Spiritual"...Plus he was so down, down, down to earth....Cool Dood! As for the rest of the afternoon I can't say, I had to bail but I'm sure "Red Earth, Shawn Perry and Pueblo Revolt" Kicked ASS! Thanks To KUNM Singing Wire, ABQ Museum, Sound Crew (Killer sound I have ever had, I even had a minitor this time, hahahaha) all the volunteers who served and cooked in the hot sun!!! The DJ's, Ronnie B, Missy D, Interplanet Janet. Peace. John-Ishen Tree |

I also was there, I finally got to see 237, since I'm just a young-in, and they never play all ages, (I was the white kid in the back by the way), in my opinion, they kicked butt! Greg the singer is really really good, and scutt the drummer was truely bad ass, guitars were very good, and of course so was the bass. They didnt sound at all like I expected, from what I heard on myspace, a little heavier, but it was cool. I did nt stick around but for like an hour, it was hot, and I wasnt in the mood for hot dogs. I would like to hear Ishen Tree though. To all you bands please play more all ages shows! Please!

Yeah we had a good time.....Same with us (Ishen Tree), we hadn't played together really for about 8 months....Plus I had to learn two new songs the night before!
But we will be coming out and playing more now that all three of us cleared our plates for the band now! I think our next gig will be August 25th at "The Tavern" bar but our plan is to do a gig at "The Cell" soon for our under 21 fans! But yeah, "237" kicked ass and I couldn't tell you guys were un-rehearsed for that long! Just a few pic's of "Ishen Tree"... |
