Even though the subject line should say it all, I'll expound. The Five Minute Sinners brought it first. Great tunes, tons of energy, all the usual fun one would expect from a great band. Opus Dai from L.A. went on next and fucking FLOORED me. SO tight it was scary. They had it all. Their drummer's on a different plane of existence, and godDAMN he was tasteful. Real busy parts, tons of hand/foot combos. Their singer has a great voice and a very wide range. Great melodies and the bits of falsetto here and there were spot on and not the least bit feminine. Their string players were both fuckin' sick. I won't display my ignorance by trying to point out what was cool about their playing, but it sounded great. Left Brain came up last and KILLED it!! These guys get tighter everytime I see them. Steve, Left Brain's drummer told me he's only been playing for two years. I almost smacked him. TWO YEARS?!?! Dude sounds like he's been playing for at least ten years. And damn, Tristan can sing. Such a good performance. Go see Left Brain! A truly kick-ass night with great sets by awesome bands.

Great fuckin' night at Burt's. I wanted to start a review thread for this one, but it looks like Plague Barbie beat me to it (thanks for bein there mike).
Anyway... We had a blast. A few minor difficulties up front when my amp/stack wasn't working...it always seems to happen at burt's..but it got figured out and we had a great crowd to jam with.
After we got done Opus Dai came on. Plague Barbie said it all...they fuckin' rocked...really impressed.
Then of course...Left Brain. Yes...they have gotten fuckin great...I had the chance to see them twice this week and was fuckin rocked beyond limit both times. Tristan was in a shamanic trance...made me wonder where he got the san pedro cacti... John was fuckin shredding...and i do mean fuckin' shredding. Thunda was bustin out the bass lines with the intensity of someone who hasn't shit in weeks...and steve- damn you've gotten good.
All in all it was a great night, with a great turnout. Burt's on a tuesday? Yes.
Mad props to Five Minute for holding it down and rocking everyone's faces off. The "Five Minute Sin Dancers" (Sloppy & Lady) were at it again and after the show I saw them looking for their faces. Anyways... always down to work with you guys again. One of my favorite live shows.
Also- thanks to Simfonik Mike and co. for Plagueing Burt's... It's always cool to chill with you guys.
Opus Dai had it together! Tons of talent and originality in that band. I hope they hit town again. They were a tough act to follow and caused LB to be drenched in sweat after the first 30 seconds of playing. John's head nearly came loose during the third song and a little chip came off of my thumb.
Interesting mishap- one of Steve's sticks broke in half during a part where we have a pause and he stared at it in confusion for about 12 beats, causing a bit of a train wreck (I mean "experimental jam").
